English for Restaurant Customer Service 1

This course helps develop necessary language and cultural context for those working
in or searching for a customer-facing role in the restaurant industry. Through
dialogues and real-world scenarios, learners practice functional phrases and
vocabulary related to a number of customer service roles, with an emphasis on the
restaurant industry.

  • Courses for English Language Learners. The course is taught in English.
  • NRS Level (National Reporting System): High Beginner
  • BEST Plus® SPL (Student Performance Level): 3-4
  • Each unit is a collection of short lessons that are 3 minutes or fewer. Units usually take an hour to complete.


Unit 1: Defining and Recognizing Customer Service

Identify customer service components in simple, real-life scenarios. Recognize key
terms related to customer service: provider, interaction, lasting relationship.


Unit 2: Customer Service Jobs and Industries

Name several jobs and industries where customer service is important. Label
industries using job types. Express the job and industry of a person working in
customer service, using a complete sentence.

 

Unit 3: Why and How Customer Service Benefits All

Listen to dialogues to hear examples of good/poor customer service in several
scenarios.

 

Unit 4: Review of Units 1 to 3 in a Restaurant Setting

Identify different people in a restaurant setting. Examine how good customer
service benefits the restaurant as a whole.
